I am about to make a petition for the Prequel Trilogy to be released on Blu-Ray in it's original format. Anyone who wants to sign it, post here.

What should we post?

I suggest we request, rather than a release of the theatrical PT which (besides the teal shift in AotC) is actually substandard to the Blu release, a release of the PT that has been corrected to fix continuity errors that it introduced, as well as to update CGI effects that force the film to look fake and impersonal. Perhaps a release of direct theatrical transfers for films 1-6 before Ep 7 come out, or at least a statement reporting which versions of the films are in fact the official versions.

I don't understand what the point of this site is. I can understand people starting a petition to get the Original Trilogy theatrical cuts released, but the prequels? The theatrical cut (digital presentation)of AOTC is available on the internet in 1080p format, the blu-rays has one minor edit in the Dooku/ Yoda fight for that film, along with a new colour grading. ROTS blu-ray IS the theatrical version. Only TPM is the none theatrical version. Fans who like the prequels are usually the same type of fans that accept and defend any changes George Lucas has made to all the films.

It's still relevant for archival purposes. Some people prefer puppet Yoda in TPM. Some people prefer the original color timing in AotC. RotS does have very few changes... but some of these are audio changes that people don't like.
As for me... I actually want a PT Special Edition. One that fixes the flat look of AotC CGI, and the overly sterile look of RotS. I also could do with alternate takes and slight tweaking to the plot of all three PT, to bring them closer in line with the OT. As such, I think that is what we should request. A huge Disney release of the 6 films, two versions each - a completely untouched theatrical presentation of all of them, and a complete visual effects upgrade across the board. I might be able to accept the Jabba scene in ANH if he didn't look like Mr. Hankey's extremely large grandfather.

Essentially combining the two petitions for the OT and the PT release on Blu-Ray in their original format together.

The only change that was made for the DVD version was the removal of one optical wipe. That has been restored in the Blu-Ray edition. The audio also hasn't been altered. So, in fact, the only fully theatrical version of any Star Wars film is ROTS. Pretty depressing that.

So ROTS should be presented as-is then.

Yep.
So, now we only need to get the other 5 theatrical versions, and we'll be happy.

This forum isn't pointless! It's a safe haven for the many PT fans who can't stand the OT, or have never watched, and will never watch the OT. But my avatar may be a spoiler for the OT... sigh...

The point of this Forum is an unrestricted place similar to TheForce.net, with the Sophistication of FE.org and OT.com.

I thought this forum was about preserving and getting an official release of the theatrical cuts of the PT and NOT a OT haters forum. I don't know if many Star Wars fans exist that hate the OT or refuse to watch it. You're not doing your petition any favours if that is the aim of the site. You are only going to alienate many many fans that may have thought about backing your cause, but will now just ignore it.

Lucas would want to say that the BluRay version is the official version. But the DeEd proves that wrong for episodes 4-6.
